Aloha mai!
If you're going to dorm at Yonsei, then READ THIS. Yonsei will send you an email with a link to the housing website (http://ih.yonsei.ac.kr). This is what the email will look like.
As it states, they will not send you emails about the application after this. IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE A PROFILE FIRST. Start on this asap that way its out of the way and taken care of so that registration will go smoothly. Below is an image of a pop up that will appear every time you log into the portal. It lays out everything by date to help you follow the process. REMEMBER Korea is 19 hours AHEAD and this entire process is based on KOREAN time. So set an alarm and be very aware on when things open up. DORMS ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED! Previous students have mentioned how fast these dorms fill up so be very hyperactive. I was already set up and ready to go before registration opened. Unless you want to scramble to find a place, make this a priority. I know it's winter break but stay on it!

Now the fun part: Which dorm will you stay in??? Yonsei offers two dorms for international students, SK Global House and International House. In my opinion, there are different features in each dorm that will affect one's decision. Both dorms DO have AC, Heating, bedding, closet, desk, lamp, chair, book case, window, small fridge (SK single and I-House double rooms only), LAN connection (must be purchased). Here are the differences:
International House
SK Global
International House
- Double room only
- Bathrooms are SHARED on each floor
- Features a study room, lounge, laundry room, seminar room, and there is a kitchenette on each floor
SK Global
- Single and double room
- PRIVATE bathroom in each room
- Features a study room, lounge, laundry room, music room, multi-functional room, common kitchen in B3 floor
Before choosing a dorm I did my research. I watched youtube videos of dorm tours (HIGHLY recommend doing this), googled pictures, and most of all looked at the prices.
Room rates in USD
SK Global Single: $2158
SK Global Double: $1458
International House Double: $1189
Obviously there is a big price difference for each room. I decided to choose comfort over cost, therefore the single was the best one for me. But these dorm prices are way better than UH!
PAYING FOR THE DORMS
You pay for the dorms after you register and if I remember correctly I paid like 3 weeks after registration. The money must be WIRED to Yonsei. The necessary bank information and account numbers will be shown on "MY PAGE" on the dorm portal. I was at Disneyland when I had to make the wire transfer and it was as easy as calling my bank (USAA) and telling them I had to make a wire transfer, had my laptop open with the Yonsei bank information, and WHOOP BAM I paid for my dorm. There are fees that your bank may/will charge you for ex, mine was $50 but minor. MAKE SURE TO PAY FOR YOU DORM OR YOU WILL LOSE IT.
And that is how you take care of the dorm situation at Yonsei. teehee ^__^
